CHILDREN & WORSHIP
Children are welcome in worship at St. Philip Presbyterian Church! We have many options to make worship an important part of your child’s life!
Worship bags are available in a large basket in the Narthex, the entry into the Sanctuary. They contain crayons, drawing paper, activity sheets relating to the day's Scripture passages, bookmarks for the Bible and Hymnal, and flash cards to help identify parts of the worship service. A bookshelf is also located in the Narthex with seasonal books for children to read during the worship service or to check out until the following Sunday.
A Cry Area is located through the glass doors at the rear of the Sanctuary.
A Nursery is provided for infants and children up to age four. It is located in Room 18, just around the corner from the Sanctuary on the Oak Terrace.
A Time for Young Christians is offered during the 11:00 a.m. worship service at the front of the Sanctuary to hear a special message from one of the Pastors.
A Children’s Worship program focusing on learning about worship and the Bible is provided for children age four through the 2nd grade. After the Time for Young Christians during the 11 o’clock worship service, children are welcome to join and are escorted to Shepherds’ Shelter, Room 10 in the Christian Education wing. Parents may pick up their children in Room 10 after the worship service.
We encourage children in 3rd grade and higher to participate in the full worship service.
Children in 2nd through 6th grade are invited to actively participate in the worship service by serving as Acolytes. Acolytes lead the recessional and extinguish the Chancel candles at the end of the worship service. If your child is interested, you may contact the Associate Pastor by calling the Church Office or by clicking here.
