SUNDAY SCHOOL KICK-OFF SUNDAY

Please bring your favorite, NUT-FREE, covered dish for the
All-Church Breakfast Pot-Luck!
We will be promoting all Sunday School children into their new classes, awarding new Bibles to incoming Kindergartners, 3rd and 9th graders.
During the 11:00 am service we will be having a “Blessing of the Backpacks” ceremony.
Bring your school bags, brief cases, lunch boxes, teacher bags, or purses to be blessed for the upcoming year.
Kick Off Sunday is for children, youth, and adults!

UNDY - SUNDAY
3rd Sunday = Undy Sunday
The 3rd Sunday of each month at St. Philip will now be known as Undy Sunday!! We will collect new pajamas, underpants, socks and T-shirts for these First Night Bags, to ease the transition of children on their first night into foster care! Undershirts and soft shorts are fine pajamas for teens. All will be put to use, from toddler to teen.

The most needed items for June Undy Sunday are
Girls’ sleepwear, sizes 4-6-8 boys’ underwear and T-shirts all sizes
All donations are tax deductible. If you prefer, checks can be written to CC's Carry-Ons or to St. Philip with “foster care” or “CC's Carry-Ons” in the memo.
CANASTA EVERY TUESDAY
A newly formed Canasta Group is meeting every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.in the church library
Everyone is invited, even if you haven't “Played in Years”!

DEVOTIONAL CLASSICS COVENANT GROUP
The Devotional Classics book study starts August 23rd, and meets every Tuesday at 7 pm in the Church Parlor through the remainder of the year.
The new book costs $11.25 (with tax).
This book includes writings from: Thomas Merton,C.S. Lewis, John Calvin, Francis of Assisi and Soren Kierkegaard.
REV. ELMARIE PARKER, MISSION CO-WORKER IN LEBANON
Visiting on August 20th
The regional liaison position for Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq is filled by Elmarie Parker. The heartbeat of her work is to help deepen and strengthen the relational ties between Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) church partners in her region and Presbyterian constituents in the United States. More specifically, she facilitates Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) support for partner programs, relationships and activities, and implements the PC(USA)’s international partnership strategy. She facilitates and seeks to strengthen healthy, effective and appropriate relationships among entities of the PC(USA) and those of partner denominations and organizations in the region. Additionally, Elmarie supports PC(USA) co-workers serving in this region in communications, information sharing, mentoring/guiding, encouraging, and reflection.
Rev. Parker will be preaching at both services on August 20th. She will also speak and have a time for questions and answers after the 11:00 service.
