Reverend Dr. Greg Garis
Greg Garis became Pastor and head of staff of St. Philip in March 2011. He brings twenty-five years of pastoral ministry after serving churches in Kentucky, New Jersey, and Georgia. Greg received his Master of Divinity degree from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and his Doctorate of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. He enjoys preaching and working with small groups in the church.
Greg grew up and was baptized as an infant in the First Presbyterian Church of Covina, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. He has worked on the National Staff of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and was Interim Executive Presbyter of Savannah Presbytery before coming to St. Philip.
The foundation of Greg’s theology lies in nurturing the community of faith, and his passion is to see the mainline church shift and transition into the church of today. He’s extensively studied the emergent church and feels that the church needs to show hospitality just as Jesus would today.

Reverend Alissa King
Reverend Alissa King was recently ordained and graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary with her Master of Divinity. She is a life-long Presbyterian. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Austin College.
Alissa feels blessed to currently be serving as the Associate pastor at St. Philip and to have served in the past as pastor intern, chaplain intern, clinical pastoral education chaplain intern and Austin College Activator.
She is a traveler at heart, having grown up for some years in Indonesia, traveled with her family, spent a year in Peru working at Radio Amauta with the PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer program, and walked the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage in Spain.
Alissa has a passion for the life of the church and hopes to open up conversation and share that passion with others. She feels fortunate to be a part of the St. Philip family. She feels called encourage others to question, seek, and talk about their faith, and to join in and help facilitate authentic community.

Director of Administration
Mitzi Cimino has been Director of Administration at St. Philip since November 2005, and brings more than thirty years of experience in office administration and bookkeeping. The church office serves as a connection point for multiple areas of ministry, as well as in the church’s role as an organization in the weekday world. Mitzi keeps the office running like a well-oiled machine.
Mitzi is pleasantly surprised that her job gives her opportunities to serve in such outreach programs as Kay Lynn’s Pantry and Emergency Aid. The thing she loves most about St. Philip is the caring and nurturing she receives from its members, making the job a pleasure to come to every day.

Director of Music
Joshua Brown joined the staff of St. Philip as Director of Music in June 2017. He oversees all musical ensembles at the church and assists with worship planning. Josh has served as a worship leader in churches across Texas and is THRILLED to be a part of the staff here at St. Philip. He was formerly the Director of Choir at Coppell High School and has nearly a decade of experience in high school choral music.
In addition to his work at St. Philip, he is currently working toward at DMA (Doctorate) in Choral Conducting at the University of North Texas. He holds degrees in music from Baylor University and Dallas Baptist University. He is married to Hillary Brown who teaches 5th Grade in Coppell ISD.

Director of Preschool
Cindy Baren joined the staff of St. Philip as the Director of Preschool in January 2001. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University in 1979, and has taught at elementary schools in Tulsa, Irving, and Hurst. She has a “Wall of Love” in her office showing pictures children and families that she has had the privilege of knowing and loving through the years.
Five Things You Should Know About Cindy:
Lori Henry joined the staff of St. Philip as a teacher with the Preschool program in August, 2001. She really enjoys working and interacting with the younger children and feels at times that she’s the one learning from them. Lori graduated from L. D. Bell High school. She is married and has one beautiful young adult daughter.
Lori loves the outdoors. She grew up going camping, fishing and horseback riding. Although now she wishes she could do these things more often!
